Previous edition 2011
More than 310 exhibitors from Poland and abroad, close to 10,000 guests from the industry, multiple competitions and culinary art shows taking place in four exhibition sectors - in short, that is what the complex of specialised fair events looked like. They were comprised of: 19th International Trade Fair of Hotel and Catering Equipment, 10th GASTROFOOD Food and Drinks for Catering Trade Fair, and 9th ENOEXPO Wine Trade Fair in Krakow.
An even sweeter taste of success – Krakow’s HORECA® 2011
Over 300 exhibitors from all over the world, more than 10 thousand guests from the industry, which is a 30% increase on the number of professionals who visited the fair in 2010; Krakow’s Waiters Race, Enotourism and Regional Products Salon, Coffee and Tea Salon, culinary arts shows and visits by some of the stars of the world’s wine industry - these are just some of many attractions prepared for this year’s largest Autumn trade fair of the HORECA industry in Poland, comprising three events: the 19th HORECA® International Trade Fair of Hotel and Catering Equipment, the 10th GASTROFOOD® Food and Drinks for Catering Trade Fair®, and the International Wine Trade Fair in Krakow, ENOEXPO®.
“We come to the fair every year because we feel very well here! In comparison to the other events of this type organised in Poznań and Warsaw, I think that Krakow’s HORECA® is at the same, or even a higher, level. The atmosphere is great and friendly and the organization leaves nothing else to wish for. In fact there is nothing we can complain of and, as we all know, it is the details that really count and determine the class of the event. We are definitely seeing you again next year” said Jerzy Jamroz from Strauss Cafe, the largest producer and one of the largest distributors of coffee in Poland, and one of the exhibitors in the Tea and Coffee Salon – a special area designated exclusively to tea and coffee issues. This particular zone was not only an opportunity to establish business contacts but also an excellent occasion to learn the arcane arts of tea and coffee making. The Regional Products SalonThis was the newest addition to this year’s fair. The Małopolska food producers presented their commercial offers for three consecutive days – these were original, internationally rare products such as cheeses, cold meats, alcohols (meads, cordials, beer, wine), breads, juices and preserves. The Salon formula was favourably received by the exhibitors and visitors alike. “There’s a huge interest in local products. Restaurants want to introduce them to their menus. We are usually involved in all kinds of tourism-oriented fairs; the difference here is that our clients can taste the food, and not only become interested in some areas of its making. And so this fair is definitely a positive innovation. We had a lot of visitors, guests, discussions, clients and so the future looks rather promising” says Katarzyna Janos, Presidnet of the “Na Śliwkowym Szlaku” [Following the Plum Trail] Association. The Enotourism Salon was a great complementary event, during which Polish wine producers encouraged our guests to visit Polish vineyards, and get acquainted with the secrets of winemaking.
World wine experts visit Enoexpo® 2011
Enoexpo® 2011, which is the largest wine industry event in Poland, attracted over 100 wine producers and importers from all over the world. “This trade fair is the most soulful wine industry event in Poland. This year I am particularly pleased with the interest in our offer, which is twice as big as during the previous seasons of this event. This is why we are definitely going to be back here next year” says Mikhail Mychajliv, President of the Georgian Wine Centre.
What was new at this year’s Enoexpo was the presentation of wine and juice making equipment, and the fair’s main attraction was the visit of some of the greatest wine experts in the world. The title of the “Man of the Year” granted by the “Czas Wina” journal was received by Michel Rolland (the most famous winemaker in the world) and by Jair Agopian.
The fair was yet again accompanied by wine competitions, such as the 3rd Competition of Polish Wines for the ENOEXPO® 2011 Medal, and the 3rd Wine Competition for ENOEXPO® 2011 Medal, where over 80 medals were awarded this year.
The well tried and tested trade formula has worked for us again! The HORECA® and GASTROFOOD trade fairs are above all focused on the presentation of equipment for restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels and various accommodation facilities. The formula combining the presentation of three industries - hotel, catering and wine - has worked very well again. “I came to Krakow because I want to set up a pension. What I liked was the presentation of the offer for exclusive, demanding clients. I also managed to buy an excellent coffee maker” said Katarzyna, who came to Krakow from Poronin.
The trade fair knowledge zone included a cycle of open seminars and workshops on designing and arranging modern kitchens, restaurant rooms, bars and hotel rooms. This was the place to find out about the latest trends and learn some practical tips about how to avoid the most common mistakes. One of the exhibitors offered training on standards of client service in the hotel and catering industries. “The interest in our offer was considerable, which is good, because – even if the service in the Polish hotels and restaurants is not particularly bad - it is still behind Western European standards. I have noticed, and it was clearly visible during this year’s Trade Fair, that restaurant and hotel owners are beginning to build up the image of the places they manage” says Katarzyna Pisarczyk from hr compass company.

Kraków Waiters Run
Kraków Waiters Run, 12 November 2011 – this event will take place a few days before the 19th edition of the HORECA® International Trade Fair of Hotel and Catering Equipment held in Kraków on 16-18 November 2011.
Coffee and Tea Salon
A special area will host coffee and tea traders, coffee roasting plants and distributors of equipment, who will present their products and services. Consumers’ growing knowledge of the product and their expectations of the quality of hot drinks, as well as the demands of competition, naturally force the necessity to continually ensure high standards in roasting and serving coffee and tea.
